Our Commitment to the Environment
We are deeply committed to conservation. Nature inspires us with its beauty and its magnificence. We want to preserve it for the future and we support the following organizations which are dedicated to conservation.
Polar
Bears International’s primary goals are to conserve the world’s polar bears through research and education, and
to serve as a central educational resource on polar bears worldwide. A potentially threatened species that could
easily become endangered, the major threat to the polar bear is climate change due to global warming. Polar bears
are also jeopardized by pollution, poaching, and industrial disturbances. All officers and directors serve the
foundation without pay or expense reimbursement, so the organization is able to apply 100 percent of its revenue
directly to research programming.
“PBI and Lowepro are both profoundly dedicated to conservation through research and education,” says Robert Buchanan,
president of Polar Bears International. “Together we are confident that we can start to change the overall mindset
of individuals through kids teaching kids about how to think globally and act locally. website ![]()
DayMen/Lowepro
has been a significant participant in the campaign to preserve the rare Spirit Bear, whose habitat was threatened
by clear-cut logging. We initiated an international photo contest to raise awareness of the bear’s plight and
we will do whatever we can to ensure the Spirit Bear’s continued survival.
The Spirit Bear Sanctuary On April 4, 2001, the government of British Columbia announced the creation of a 96,458-hectare
(240,000-acre) Spirit Bear protection area. While the sanctuary includes most of the bear’s habitat, crucial areas
like Gribbell Island have not been protected and could be logged. Valhalla Wilderness Society and Lowepro will
continue to fight for the preservation of this rare bear’s entire habitat.
As
Canada’s only dedicated waterless printer, Warren's is able to provide a printing solution from conception in
prepress right through to the finishing and bindery stages. There is much more to be environmentally friendly
than providing recycled papers and vegetable inks. Warrens's process utilizes three critical initiatives: Waterless
printing presses eliminate the use of vast amounts of water and the need to dispose of tainted water; truly
recycled paper, from paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council to those manufactured with wind or biogas
power; and lastly, by using a sustainable, renewable energy source
to power their printing facilities. website ![]()
